In June, we had the pleasure of welcoming Geoffrey Pleyers, President of the International Sociological Association and Professor at UCLouvain. In addition to public lectures at the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory by Geoffrey and his UCLouvain colleague Karla Henríquez Ojeda, we had an excellent exchange at the round table Sociology in Times of Crisis, held at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade and co-organized by our Society. We discussed the main stakes of the role of sociology in today’s world, shaken by multiple crises but also opening up new opportunities for meaningful engagement, a topic that is of obvious and immediate importance in Serbia at the moment. Many thanks to Geoffrey not only for joining us this time in Belgrade, but also for his continuing support in our efforts to safeguard academic autonomy and uphold high standards in our sociological work in the face of adversity.
